City H2012

This work feels like a natural transition from my recent New York paintings. In those works, the viewer was presented with very busy urban landscapes, diffused and simplified when viewed through condensation on windows. Now the water is on the outside of the window, and its moving and distorting the lights and city of Perth. As a result, these very familiar scenes appear abstracted, when in fact they are completely figurative. This is simply reality abstracted by nature.
